Watercolour and enamel paint on cartridge paper, 11.5" x 16.5"
This psychedelic painting was devoloped using an automatic painting technique, in which the artist attempted to clear their mind and allow colour to flow without conscious input. The result is a form constant (patterns the brain produces during altered states of consciousness) reminiscent of fractal patterns, or spirals formed by mathematical sequences such as Fibonacci. Gold enamel paint was used to bring out the highlights of the central two spirals, which add extra depth to the painting and are responsive to changing light. The result is a hypnotic and richly coloured painting which would make an ideal focus for meditation.
